Welcome to Ardeley

Ardeley is a small village and civil parish in East Hertfordshire, England. The parish which includes the hamlets of Cromer, Wood End and Moor Green and the southern half of Luffenhall, is located about one and a half miles north of Walkern.

Ardeley has a primary school, as well as a pub – The Jolly Waggoner – and a working farm – Church Farm, with a farm shop and tea room. The parish church of St Lawrence dates from the 13th century.

Within the hamlet of Cromer can be found Hertfordshire’s sole surviving post mill. The present mill dates from 1681 on a site where a windmill has stood for over 600 years, and is open to the public at set hours during the summer months.
